itSMF

itSMF members are drawn from the widest spectrum.  Approximately 80% represent “user” organizations that are responsible for delivering quality IT services to their customers and the remainder represents the leading service and product providers in this field.

User members are drawn from both the Public Sector (Central and local government, Health and Police Authorities, etc.) and the Private Sector (Financial Services, Retail, Manufacturing, Communications, Transport, Travel, etc).  Individuals from these organizations are typically from the ranks of Senior and Middle Management, Consultants and Senior Practitioners’.

In furthering its aims itSMF engages in a number of activities:

  1. Working in partnership with organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce and the Government locally and internationally the OGC (the owners of ITIL), the British Standards Institution [(BSI) owners of BS15000] and other national & international standards bodies. Indeed, most of the existing best practice material has been written or quality assured by itSMF members. itSMF will also commission research as deemed appropriate by the international board.
  2. Contributing to the development and management of global qualifications based upon the ”best practice” material, encouraging the take up of these formal qualifications and providing mechanisms, formal and informal, that contribute to a culture of Continuing Professional Development. An example is the (commercial) Helpdesk Institute, the Romanian Banking Institute et cetera.
  3. Provide a means whereby members can interact with one another in order to learn from each other and avoid reinventing solutions. This achieved through running seminars, conferences and discussion groups as well as web-enabled interactions.
  4. To establish relationships with other bodies that a shared or similar mission in promoting the use of standards and best practice. Through such relationships, joint marketing, cross-branding or shared events could extend the reach of the itSMF message.
  5. Through all activities, including the publication of relevant material, assist organizations in the implementation of solutions that will deliver real value to them. This will always fall short of active training or consultancy (the province of many of the members), but will include high-level educational opportunities.
  6. The itSMF RO chapter maintains a library of national and international solution providers, users and consultants for becoming the main platform for IT Service Management in Romania.
  7. The itSMF RO strives to obtain international funding (e.g. Financial Program FP7 from the European Union) in order to contribute to the development of the Romanian economy.
